Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - No Derrick Rose again, no problem. Although the Chicago Bulls had to fend off the shorthanded Philadelphia 76ers in the closing minutes. Mike Dunleavy had 27 points and the Bulls hung on for a 118-115 victory over the 76ers on Friday night. Our guys did a good job of recognizing he was going well, Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. Trailing by as many as 18 in the second half, Hollis Thompson and Chris Johnson hit 3-pointers in less than a 10-second span to cap a 13-3 flurry and pull the Sixers within a point. After Thompson hit his three with 14.9 seconds remaining, Kirk Hinrich missed two foul shots and Johnson swished a left corner trey to cut the deficit to 116-115 with 5.9 ticks on the clock. Hinrich then sunk two free throws with 2.1 seconds to go and Johnsons halfcourt heave at the buzzer was well short. Philadelphia played Fridays game with just nine healthy players. We want respect, we want to work hard, to have tenacity and spirit that reflects this city, Sixers coach Brett Brown said. The results will follow. Rose is still day-to-day with two sprained ankles and prior to the game, Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau did not rule the star point guard out of Saturday nights game against the Boston Celtics. Rose originally sprained his ankles during last Fridays overtime loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers and returned in Wednesdays game against the Milwaukee Bucks before tweaking the ankles. Jimmy Butler posted 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists, while Pau Gasol added 17 points and 12 boards for Chicago, which has won all three of its games without Rose this season. His backup Hinrich tallied 13 points and seven assists in the triumph. Tony Wroten netted 31 points to go with seven assists and five rebounds for the Sixers, who are one of two winless teams -- the Los Angeles Lakers are the other -- in the NBA. The game was tied 57-57 at the break before the Bulls began the third on a 21-5 run to seize control of the contest. Dunleavy nailed a trio of 3-pointers and netted 11 points during the burst, which was capped on Butlers putback layup to give Chicago a 78-64 cushion a little past the midway point of the frame. Chicago outscored Philadelphia 35-19 in the period and led 92-76 heading into the fourth. Earlier, Chicago took a 33-28 margin into the second before the Sixers started that frame on a 19-6 burst. Henry Sims put in six points during the swing, which he ended with a putback layup for a 47-39 Sixers advantage halfway through the stanza. GRENOBLE, France -- Formula One great Michael Schumachers condition was stable but still critical overnight as he remained unconscious following a brain injury suffered in a skiing accident, his manager said Wednesday. Sabine Kehm told reporters that his condition has not changed since doctors said he showed small signs of improvement on Tuesday, following his second operation. Schumacher, who turns 45 on Friday, suffered critical head injuries when he fell and struck a rock while skiing Sunday morning during a family vacation at Meribel in the French Alps. His 14-year-old son, Mick, was with him in a group of friends when the accident happened in a small, rock-strewn area of open ground between two groomed pistes. The seven-time F1 champion has since undergone two brain operations and remains in a medically induced coma. "The good news for today is ... theres no significant changes," Kehm told reporters gathered outside the Grenoble hospital where he is being treated. "However, it is still very early, and the situation overall is critical. Everything can change immediately," she added. Doctors have refused to give a prognosis for Schumacher, saying they are focused on his immediate care. They are trying to reduce swelling in his brain by keeping him in a coma and lowering his body temperature to between 34 and 35 degrees Celsius (93.dddddddddddd2 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit). Kehm said Schumacher was surrounded by his family -- including his wife, daughter and son -- and that there is always somebody with him. "They are trying to support him by being by his side," Kehm said. One visitor returning to the hospital Wednesday was Jean Todt, president of the FIA motor racing governing body and team principal at Ferrari when Schumacher won five straight F1 titles from 2000 to 2004. Schumacher is the most successful F1 driver in history, racking up a record 91 race wins. He retired from Formula One in 2012 after garnering an unmatched seven world titles. His accident has drawn immense media attention, and Kehm confirmed Wednesday that earlier in the week security at the hospital stopped a journalist who was posing as a priest from approaching Schumacher. "Security got him before he got close," she said. Schumi, as his fans affectionately call him, was famously aggressive on the track and no less intense off-hours. In retirement, he remained an avid skier, skydiver and horseback rider. Kehm said the Schumacher family traditionally spends Christmas and New Year holidays at Meribel, where they own a chalet, and to celebrate the German racers birthday. ' ' '
