The Saskatchewan Roughriders will attempt to become the third consecutive Canadian Football League team to capture a championship on their home field when they face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at the 101st Grey Cup at Mosaic Stadium in Regina. TSNs pre-game coverage is underway live NOW, with kickoff at 6pm et/3pm pt. You can also follow TSNs digital platforms throughout the game with in-game highlights and TSN.cas GameTracker. To follow in the footsteps of the 99th Grey Cup Champion B.C. Lions and 100th Grey Cup Champion Toronto Argonauts, the Roughriders are going to have to beat a team that took an almost identical route to the title game as them in the Tiger-Cats. Both teams finished second in their respective division and after earning home semi-final victories, were forced to go on the road as underdogs to book their places in the final. In the West title game, the Roughriders knocked off the Calgary Stampeders 35-13, leading from the mid-point of the opening quarter right to the final whistle. After opening the regular season by winning eight of their first nine games, the Roughriders struggled through the second half of the campaign before getting things back on track heading into the playoffs. The Tiger-Cats, meanwhile, overturned a halftime deficit in the East Final to knock off the defending champion Argonauts and get to the Grey Cup. The Ticats also overcame a 1-4 start to the season before everything came together late in the season, especially on the defensive side of the ball, and they stayed hot through the playoffs. The Roughriders offence will be led by eight-year CFL veteran quarterback Darian Durant, who threw a career-high 31 touchdown passes as well as topping the 4,000 yard mark for the third time in his career. He also set a new personal benchmark with a 95.7 passer rating. This will be Durants third crack at leading the Roughriders to the Grey Cup, as he was behind centre during both the 2009 and 2010 losses to the Montreal Alouettes. He will have one of the CFLs most dynamic backs by his side in Kory Sheets, who finished the year with 1,598 yards - good enough for second overall. Sheets, in his second season in the league, contributed 12 touchdowns for the Roughriders. Speaking of veteran leadership, Henry Burris will be the pivot for the Tiger-Cats and he brings with him 15 years of CFL experience and the pedigree of leading the Stampeders to a championship in 2008. He also led the league this season with 4,925 passing yards as he continues to shine at the QB position. C.J. Gable will also be counted on to make an impact from the RB position for the Ticats, as the rookie finished fourth in rushing with 782 yards this season. One of the major storylines of this game will be Tiger-Cats head coach Kent Austin, who is a Roughriders legend; having led the team to championships as a quarterback in 1989 and as a head coach in 2007. Though he will be coaching against what will be a very partisan crowd against his team, a banner with his picture still hangs outside of Mosaic Stadium. Six players and one coach enter the game with the chance to win back-to-back titles. Ricky Foley, Tristan Black and Ejiro Kuale of the Roughriders or Evan McCullough, Brandon Isaac, Joel Reinders, and defensive coordinator Orlondo Steinauer of the Tiger-Cats will be finishing the season with the big prize for the second year in a row. The Roughriders have not captured the Grey Cup since Austin coached them there in 2007, while the Tiger-Cats havent been crowned champions since 1999. Seattle couldnt celebrate the arrival of Cano enough. Young was a last-second addition plucked at the end of spring training. Each has proven invaluable in keeping Seattle at .500 at the 50-game mark of the season. Young pitched shutout ball until Albert Pujols homered in the seventh inning, Cano had three hits and two RBIs to raise his average to .332, and the Mariners beat the Los Angeles Angels 5-1 on Monday. While the production from Cano was expected after he signed a $240 million contract to join the Mariners, what Young has contributed is a surprise, especially with Seattle down two expected starters in the rotation. "I was trying to find the adjectives to describe this guy today, but what a godsend hes been for this rotation," Seattle manager Lloyd McClendon said. "Hes been tremendous. In and out, up and down, he never wavers and knows what he wants to do." Young (4-2) kept the Angels without a hit until Kole Calhouns single with one out in the sixth inning. An inning later, Pujols hit his 506th career home run, pulling within three of Gary Sheffield for 24th on baseballs all-time homer list. Young lasted only two more batters after Pujols homer, getting pulled after issuing a walk to Raul Ibanez. He struck out five and walked three. But Youngs strong pitching at Safeco Field continued. In four starts at home this season, Young is 2-0 with a 1.65 ERA. It was a solid rebound for Young, who got knocked around in losing his previous two starts. He gave up 10 hits and five runs in losing to Minnesota and allowed four runs and seven hits in a loss to Texas last week. In Youngs last seven starts for Seattle, the Mariners are 5-2. Its an impressive turnaround considering Young spent all of last season out of the majors after shoulder surgery. "When youre oout there competing, you expect to win.dddddddddddd I wouldnt take the ball if I didnt expect to go out and compete and win," Young said. "To say its surprising, after all the hard work and time rehabbing I put in I would say no." After McClendon lamented Seattles production following losses over the weekend to Houston, the Mariners responded with five runs in the first two innings off Tyler Skaggs (4-2). Seattle scored three unearned runs with two outs in the second. The top three hitters in Seattles order did the damage against Skaggs. James Jones scored twice, and Michael Saunders tripled, singled and scored two runs. Cano singled in each of his first three at-bats a day after his streak of reaching base ended at 31 games. "Thats just part of the game sometimes where you take advantage of a pitch over the plate," Cano said. "Sometimes there are games where they throw you that same pitch and you foul it off. ... We took advantage and thats what we want. Those are the little things you want to do." Skaggs wasnt helped by his defence in the second inning when shortstop Erick Aybar couldnt handle Jones one-hopper with two outs. The miscue allowed Dustin Ackley to score and opened the door for two more runs on Saunders triple and Canos infield single. Despite the early trouble, Skaggs threw seven innings and struck out eight. "Tyler understood keeping us in the game," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "He made pitches, got on a great streak and pitched seven innings. But the damage was done early." NOTES: Angels dropped to 1-5 vs. Seattle this season. ... Seattle LHP James Paxton (back) said he was not sure when his next throwing session would be after making his first rehab start at Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday. ... Seattle RHP Taijuan Walker (shoulder) is scheduled to make his first rehab start on Wednesday at Tacoma. ' ' '
