Dallas Eakins team now takes aim at its first road win in a month when the Oilers visit San Jose on Tuesday for the finale of a home-and-home series. Edmonton halted several skids in Saturdays 2-1 triumph over the visiting Sharks. The Oilers snapped an 11-game overall slide with the close win and also ended an 0-7-1 slide as the host. Edmonton picked up its first home victory since beating Montreal on Oct. 27 and avoided matching a club-record nine-game home skid set from Oct. 16-Nov. 24, 1993. The Oilers stopped their overall 0-7-4 skid two losses shy of tying the clubs 13-game losing streak, which was set from Dec. 31, 2009-Jan. 30, 2010. The recent win over the Sharks also marked Edmontons first victory of the season against a Western Conference opponent. The Oilers are now 1-12-4 within the conference. The Oilers havent won on the road since beating the New York Rangers on Nov. 9. Edmonton has lost five straight as the guest since that positive decision in the Big Apple, falling to 2-6-4 on the road this season. That win over the Rangers was Edmontons last before ending its lengthy slide against the Sharks. Edmonton beat the Sharks for just the second time in 10 meetings on Saturday, as David Perron scored the deciding goal in the third period of the 2-1 win at Rexall Place. Perron beat Alex Stalock with a wrist shot from the right circle to give Edmonton a 2-1 edge with 9:34 remaining in regulation. The shot deflected off San Jose defenseman Brenden Dillon and into the net for Perrons fourth goal of the season. Nail Yakupov also tallied a power-play goal in the second period for the Oilers and Ben Scrivens turned aside 20-of-21 shots for the win. This doesnt mean a lot if were not going to stick to it, said Scrivens. We have to replicate that kind of effort night after night. Scrivens could get the call again tonight after beating the Sharks for the first time in his career. He is 1-2-1 with a 2.96 goals against average in four lifetime appearances against San Jose. After completing this set against the Sharks, Edmonton will begin another home-and-home series tomorrow night when it visits Anaheim. The Ducks and Oilers will then meet at Rexall Place on Friday. Tye McGinn provided San Joses lone goal on Saturday, as the Sharks had a four-game winning streak snapped. Patrick Marleau assisted on the goal to extend his point streak to five games. Stalock made 22 saves in the loss. It was his first outing since suffering a knee injury on Nov. 8 He was sharp, he made some real good saves in the first period when we needed him, Sharks coach Todd McLellan said of Stalock. He gave us a chance to get to the [intermission] and regroup. He looked comfortable and didnt fatigue at all. There were a lot of positives in his game. Antti Niemi is expected to be back between the pipes for the Sharks tonight. He is 9-1-1 with a 2.40 GAA in 11 lifetime games against the Oilers.
