NEW YORK -- The Yankees recalled reliever Preston Claiborne from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday to replace injured infielder Jayson Nix on the roster. Nix was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a broken left hand after he was hit by a pitch from Torontos R.A. Dickey the night before. New York manager Joe Girardi said he expects Nix to miss the rest of the season. Claiborne returned for his third stint with the Yankees this year. He was called up for Tuesdays doubleheader against the Blue Jays and optioned right back to the minors afterward. The rookie right-hander is 0-1 with a 2.74 ERA in 35 relief appearances.
