Manchester City have told their youth team players they must wear black boots in order to create a culture of discipline in the academy set-up. City are aiming to ensure their young players remain grounded and academy policy dictates that colourful footwear is not permitted.Former Blackburn winger Jason Wilcox, who was recently promoted to head of academy coaching, is adamant that the clubs young players must learn what it means to represent City, both on and off the field.
